Bank Transfers in 20 Steps or Less (and I’m Hoping for Less)
1. Make sure all transaction journal entries are posted and that you have Bank Reconciliation Integration turned on. To turn on Bank Reconciliation Integration go to Modules -> General Ledger -> Setup -> General Ledger Options and on the lower right corner of the General Ledger Options 1. Main tab make sure the Integrate with Bank Reconciliation check box is checked.2. Make sure you have a Source Journal Setup (Modules -> General Ledger -> Setup -> Source Journal Maintenance).3. In Transaction Journal Entry (Modules -> General Ledger -> Main -> Transaction Journal Entry) select your journal (TR in my case) and an Entry Number. Then click the Format Button in the upper right column.4. Select the Offset Account number (the checking account for Bank Code A in my case, or whatever Bank code you want in yours and select the Bank Transfer Transaction Type and select the Bank Code. If you select a second Bank Code, this will be the default and can be overridden later. Click OK.5. You are back at the Transaction Journal Entry Screen. You can decide if the default offset to your primary Bank Code will be a Debit or a Credit here. You can override the primary Bank Code here, which will override the primary GL Account, and must enter a Transfer No. (in the lower right side of the screen.6. Click the 2. Lines Tab. And here you can enter your secondary Bank Code and GL Account. You can override both the Bank Code and GL Account here. Changing the Bank Code will automatically change the GL Account. Doc. Reference is a required field. You can enter multiple secondary Bank Codes here. After you are finished click Accept and print the Transaction Journal (by clicking the printer button in the lower right of the screen) and update it.
